Preparing images for email

If you will be sending an image via email it should be optimized for the internet in the same way that images put on a website are optimized. Optimization for the internet means the following:

  • file saved in an appropriate format (jpg, gif, png)
  • size (in inches will fit on a screen)
  • size is 72 dpi

If all that is Greek to you there is an easy way to get an optimized image. Simply use an image from your existing website. You will need to download the image before you attach it to your email which is done as follows:

  • PC: right click on the image then choose save from the pop up menu
  • Mac: click and drag the image to the desktop
